Aid has already arrived from Belgium, France and Norway as part of the “Generators of Hope” initiative.
As part of the “Generators of Hope” initiative, Ukraine began to receive the necessary equipment from international partners.
“The cities of Belgium handed over the first batch of generators to Ukraine. Soon other communities of the European Union countries will join. 100 generators arrived from France. Norway is now providing generators to Ukrainian border guards. Yesterday, during a meeting with a delegation of ministers of the Slovak government, they agreed on the supply of about 300 generators,” – during the meeting of the government, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.
He also added that an aid package is being negotiated with Japan.
“Equipment needed for urgent repairs of the power system will be included there. Also, as part of the first stage of aid, Japanese partners will hand over 240 generators to Ukraine,” he said.
Generators in Ukraine
On December 2, Shmyhal said that Ukraine expects hundreds of transformers and tens of thousands of generators to arrive and ease the energy supply situation caused by Russian missile attacks on energy infrastructure facilities.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted as a basis bills that exempt generators and some energy equipment necessary for the production of electricity generators in Ukraine from value added tax (VAT) and import duties.
