The sky over Ukraine must be closed now, stressed Vladyslav Seleznyov.
Ukrainian pilots are already engaged in the program of piloting the fourth generation American F-16 fighter jets. The transfer of aircraft data to Ukraine is a matter of time.
Confidence in this was expressed by military expert Vladyslav Seleznyov in an interview with “Obozrevatel”. He noted that there is currently a discussion on providing the Armed Forces with combat platforms based on F-16 fighters and Patriot air defense systems.
“Here and now, our Western partners are saying: no, under no circumstances will we transfer this. However, Ukrainian pilots are already engaged in the F-16 piloting program. I think it’s a matter of time. But the sky over Ukraine must be closed now, because the attacks continue It is not clear by what forces and means this can be done,” the expert noted.
Seleznev considers it obvious that the countries of the collective West make the right decisions, but they are postponed in time.
“Remember that in February-March, the question of providing us with long-range artillery did not even arise. The question of providing HIMARS did not arise either. However, in the end, we reached the format when we began to receive this type of weapons. Now we are actively using it, and these are the same weapons that changed the course of the war – long-range artillery and HIMARS,” he said.
Among the good news, Seleznyov singled out the transfer of Hawk-class systems to Ukraine:
“These are ancient air defense systems, but they are quite effective. Considering that the territory of Ukraine is very large and, accordingly, we need a lot of air defense funds, thank you for that.”
Will Ukraine receive F-16 fighter jets from the USA: what was reported
The other day, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Oleksiy Reznikov, said that Ukraine will receive NATO-standard tanks and even combat aircraft.
According to him, Ukraine’s partners are very practical, pragmatic and realistic, and therefore they should clearly understand that if they provide a new system, they should know that they have ammunition in warehouses, missiles, repair systems, and instructors. and trained Ukrainian soldiers.
Prior to that, Admiral of the US Navy, former NATO Commander-in-Chief James Stavridis noted that the leaders of NATO countries are reviewing the idea that was abandoned in the first days of a full-scale war – to provide Ukraine with fighter jets (MiG-29, F-16).
According to military experts, it is the F-16 fighters that could help the Armed Forces win the war started by Russia by the end of 2022.
