In his evening video message, Zelenskyi commented on the signing of the law liquidating the District Administrative Court of Kyiv.
“Today, I signed the law passed by the Verkhovna Rada on the liquidation of OASK – the District Administrative Court of Kyiv. This story has ended. And the history of reforms continues – it continues even during such a war. I thank everyone who works for Ukraine! I thank everyone who fights for our “independence! Who is now at the front, who is having a hard time now. We support you. We believe in you very much,” the head of state said.
District Administrative Court of Kyiv: what is known
As reported, on April 13, President Volodymyr Zelensky submitted to the Verkhovna Rada an urgent bill “On liquidation of the District Administrative Court of the city of Kyiv.”
The President’s Office noted that OASK has lost credibility due to scandals with “films”, corruption of related persons with safes filled with money, and numerous dubious decisions. They also added that the old and inefficient judicial system is not able to provide Ukrainians’ request for justice, has lost the trust of Ukrainian citizens and needs to be completely cleaned.
At that time, the head of the OASK, Pavlo Vovk, said that the president had allegedly succumbed to the “manipulation of individual activists” by submitting a bill to the parliament on the liquidation of the court.
As you know, it was in the OASK that the lawsuit was filed for the reinstatement of Viktor Yanukovych in the post of president. The mass media reported that Russia used this court for this purpose.
On December 12, the Verkhovna Rada adopted a law on the liquidation of the Kyiv District Administrative Court.
