Arestovych noted that a large wave of mobilization is not expected.
Advisor to the Office of the President, Oleksiy Arestovych, said that currently the Armed Forces of Ukraine number about one million people who are ready to fight with weapons in their hands. In addition, Ukraine can conduct additional mobilization, but there is no such need now.
In a conversation with Russian human rights activist and lawyer Mark Feigin on YouTube, he noted that the Russian army of occupation now has approximately 170,000 soldiers. In addition, Russia wants to transfer another 200,000 mobilized people to Ukraine.
At the same time, according to Arestovych, the Ukrainian army can still mobilize. However, there is no such need now, and this was confirmed by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhnyi.
“People are selected according to their specialties, but a big wave is not expected,” Arestovych added.
Mobilization in Ukraine: what is known
After the start of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation on February 24, 2022, martial law was introduced in Ukraine and general mobilization was announced. Men aged 18 to 60 were banned from leaving the country.
Deputy Minister of Defense Hanna Malyar said that the continuation of mobilization in Ukraine will depend on the development of events in the war. The need for the number of people who must be mobilized is calculated by the military.
