For Ukraine, one of the urgent problems is maintaining and increasing the supply of weapons from Western partners. Ammunition in battles with invaders is spent, as in the period of the Second World War. Therefore, the speed of their replenishment affects the victory in battles.

This was stated by the commander of the Ground Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Oleksandr Syrskyi in an interview with The Economist. According to him, the rate of shelling can be compared with the combat operations of the Second World War. And if one of the sides can deliver them to the position faster, then it wins the battles.

Syrsky also described how he sees winning the war. For the commander, this is the return of all the territories of the state: “We won when the enemy is destroyed, and we stand on our borders.”

Journalists noted that Syrsky does not expect a quick defeat of Russia, judging by his sober assessment of the current predicament. In the near future, Ukraine will demonstrate the effectiveness of tactics that the commander described as “active defense.” At the same time, surprises were prepared for the occupiers.

“I will only say that we are carefully studying the enemy. And every poison has an antidote,” added Syrskyi.

According to the commander, underestimating Russia can lead anyone to defeat. And mobilization in the Russian Federation is not as careless as it might seem. Currently, sufficiently prepared enemy units are appearing along the entire front line.

The latest statements of the Ukrainian command

On December 15, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhnyi announced that Russia was training 200,000 soldiers. He has no doubts about a new attempt of an enemy attack on Kyiv.

Similar information was shared by the Minister of Defense Oleksiy Reznikov. According to him, the Rashists are preparing 150,000 military personnel for future offensives. Another wave of enemy attacks will begin in February, just like this year.
