The total amount of aid is 18 billion euros.
The Ministry of Finance expects that already in January 2023, Ukraine will receive the first tranche of macro-financial assistance from the European Union, the total amount of which is EUR 18 billion.
As Deputy Minister of Finance Olga Zykova stated on the air of the informational telethon, in 2023 the monthly budget deficit will amount to between 3 and 3.5 billion dollars per month.
It is planned to cover it, in addition to the “macrofin” from the EU, at the expense of aid from the USA and thanks to a new program of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund.
“We expect the first tranche already in January 2023. This is one of the sources of covering the monthly deficit next year. We intend, after communication and agreement by the European Commission, to have a mechanism of rhythmic and predictable tranches. We plan that next year we will have a clear plan with clear dimensions tranches every month throughout the year. This will help us balance the budget and have predictable expenses to cover socially necessary expenses,” she said.
Tranche for Ukraine:
In early November 2022, the European Union announced its intention to offer Ukraine aid in the amount of up to 18 billion euros.
On December 6, it became known that Hungary blocks the European Union’s provision of a package of macro-financial assistance to Ukraine.
Later, the Hungarian authorities were able to get the European Union to unfreeze part of the money entrusted to it, in exchange for lifting the veto on 18 billion euros of aid to Ukraine. Previously, 7.5 billion euros from EU funds for Hungary were frozen due to problems with the rule of law.
On December 13, 2022, all 27 countries of the European Union supported providing aid to Ukraine in the amount of 18 billion euros in 2023 – 1.5 billion euros each month.
On December 16, 2022, EU leaders agreed to provide 18 billion euros for Ukraine.
