The NBU will keep the official exchange rate at the level of UAH 36.6/dollar, the economist is confident.

The National Bank of Ukraine will keep the dollar exchange rate fixed at UAH 36.6/dollar. all of 2023.

Such a forecast was made by the head of the analytical department of the IC Concorde Capital, Oleksandr Parashchi, noting that due to the uncertainty, the transition to a floating exchange rate is unlikely soon, RBC-Ukraine reports.

“My vision is that the NBU will keep the official exchange rate at the level of 36.6 hryvnias/dollar throughout 2023. So far, receipts from international partners ($3.5-5 billion per month) will cover the NBU’s expenses for currency interventions (2-3 billion dollars per month), then there is no point in changing the course,” he said.

He is sure that it will be possible to talk about a new reduction of the official exchange rate only if the costs of foreign exchange interventions increase and within a few months exceed foreign currency receipts from partners.
