The monument will be transferred to the Odessa Art Museum for its temporary storage.
A monument to the Russian commander Alexander Suvorov was dismantled in Odesa. It was installed in the Suvorovsky district of the city.
According to the Odesa City Council, this was done in accordance with the decision of the city council session of November 30, 2022.
“According to the decision of the session of the city council in Odesa, the monument to A. Suvorov was dismantled,” the message reads.
It is noted that the monument will be transferred to the Odessa Art Museum for its temporary storage.
Dismantling of monuments in Lviv
On November 24, the Executive Committee of Odesa supported the dismantling and relocation of the monument “Founders of Odesa”, the central figure of which is the statue of Empress Catherine II. The same decision was made regarding the monument to Suvorov on the South Road.
On the evening of Wednesday, December 28, 2022, the dismantling of the statue of Empress Catherine II began in Odesa. Earlier, the fence around the monument to the “Founders of Odesa” was dismantled.
According to the decision of the Odesa City Council, the statue of the empress will be dismantled and handed over to the Odesa Art Museum.
