In Kyiv, as a result of yesterday’s Russian missile attacks, the building of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv was significantly damaged.
As reported by the KNU, the buildings of the Institute of Biology and Medicine and the Institute of High Technologies, the faculties of psychology, sociology, computer science and cybernetics, radio physics, electronics and computer systems, the mechanical-mathematical and geographical faculties, the department of nuclear physics, a cryogenic complex, a sports complex, the Ukrainian Physics and Mathematics Lyceum and some dormitories of the campus.
“On the eve of the new year, on December 31, 2022, as a result of a rocket attack, the buildings of the exhibition campus of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv were damaged. … This time, the damage caused by the fall of the rocket will be many times greater than that suffered by the university during the massive rocket attack on the center Kyiv on October 10, 2022, when the buildings of the Main (red) educational building, the University of Philology (yellow building), the scientific library named after M. Maksymovych, the faculty of chemistry, as well as the greenhouse of the Botanical Garden named after O. Fomin were damaged,” the message said.
Shelling of Kyiv on December 31
On December 31, the Russian army launched several waves of missile attacks on various cities of Ukraine. Russian missiles hit civilian objects in Kyiv, Khmelnytskyi, Mykolaiv and Zaporizhzhia.
As a result of the attack in the Solomyansk district of Kyiv, fragments of the rocket fell into a private house. In the Pechersk district, a hotel was damaged and the windows of the Palace of Ukraine were blown out. In the Sviatoshyn district, fragments of the rocket fell on the “Temp” stadium. Also, according to Mayor Vitalii Klitschko, three schools and kindergartens were damaged in Kyiv as a result of the rocket attack.
In Kyiv, the number of victims is 22 people, an elderly man died.
In addition, on New Year’s Eve, the Air Defense Forces of Ukraine destroyed 45 enemy “shaheds”. 13 of them were shot down in 2022, and the remaining 32 – in 2023.
