The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany notes that no convincing proposals for negotiations have been received from the Russian Federation.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz periodically talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin about the war in Ukraine.
The deputy representative of the German government, Christiane Hoffmann, told Deutsche Welle about this. According to her, other European politicians also have diplomatic contacts with the Russian Federation.
“It would be incorrect to assume that there are no contacts and conversations with Russia. As you know, both the federal chancellor and other politicians in the EU constantly establish contact directly with President Putin. And on other levels, of course, contacts are maintained. To think that in this there has been silence in the industry – it’s wrong,” she said.
At the same time, the official representative of the German Foreign Ministry, Christian Wagner, said that no convincing proposals for peace negotiations have been received from Russia.
“This was also shown by the fairly brutal bombings in recent days. So, these actions of Russia create a very clear picture,” he noted.
Negotiations with Russia
As reported, Ukraine is going to hold an international summit during which the “peace formula” will be discussed. The formula presented by Volodymyr Zelenskyi consists of the following points:
- radiation and nuclear safety;
- food safety;
- energy security;
- the release of all prisoners and deportees;
- implementation of the UN charter and restoration of the territorial integrity of Ukraine and the world order;
- withdrawal of Russian troops and cessation of hostilities;
- return of justice;
- countering ecocide;
- preventing escalation;
- recording the end of the war.
At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia said that they will not talk to anyone based on it.
Volodymyr Zelenskyi has repeatedly stated that the main condition for starting negotiations with the Russian Federation is the restoration of territorial integrity of Ukraine, compensation for damages and punishment of all those involved in war crimes.
