The fact that the Russians have 150,000 military reserves does not mean that the enemy has formed a strike group.
Military expert Oleg Zhdanov said that after a “partial mobilization” was held in Russia and about 300,000 people were called up, 150,000 soldiers were allegedly sent to the front in Ukraine to restore losses. This raises the question of where another 150,000 mobs have gone, and whether Russia is using them in a possible new offensive.
In his broadcast on YouTube, Zhdanov emphasized that the Russians having 150,000 military reserves does not mean that the enemy has formed a strike group.
“The strike group is armor. It’s artillery, it’s aviation, it’s tanks, it’s BMP. They constantly transport the mobilized on tented trucks. Today we don’t see echelons with equipment going one after the other. Look to form a tank regiment – three a battalion of 42 tanks and a plus in separate units – somewhere around 140-160 tanks one regiment, that’s how many tanks are needed to form one regiment, and now imagine if it’s 200 thousand, 200 thousand is 20 divisions, that’s 72 artillery systems. 72 barrels are needed to complete it,” the expert explained.
According to Zhdanov, this is a huge amount of equipment.
“I doubt that Russia has the necessary amount of serviceable equipment, at least old Soviet equipment. It is there, but all of it must be passed through the factories. The story that they transferred the economy to military rails, I think, is most likely not true “, he continued.
The expert is convinced that now Russia will not be able to establish the production of spare parts for T-72, T-80, T-62 tanks. They will have to repair equipment in a cannibalistic way – to disassemble one tank for spare parts for others. In such conditions, there is no question of a deep modernization of technology at all.
“Therefore, it is possible to collect 200,000 and it is obvious that they have been collected. The problem is how to arm them. To transport a regiment, 10 military echelons are needed. Can you imagine what traffic there must be on the railways of the Russian Federation now to transfer such a number of troops,” he noted. Zhdanov.
The threat of a new attack on Ukraine
Military and political commentator Oleksandr Kovalenko questioned Russia’s ability to organize a new offensive against Ukraine. According to him, by the New Year, the Russian troops have almost completely exhausted the resource of their autumn mobilization, because every unit that has lost combat capability should be compensated.
Oleksiy Arestovych, an adviser to the Office of the President of Volodymyr Zelenskyi, believes that the Russians may go on the offensive in the near future. There are three possible options for a new attack on Ukraine.
At the same time, Deputy Defense Minister Hanna Malyar said that Ukraine is preparing for various options for the development of events on the part of the Russian Federation. At the same time, the Ministry of Defense cannot guarantee that Ukrainians will be warned about a new large-scale offensive by the occupiers.
