The ex-head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine emphasized that the turning point is not a one-moment process.
US President Joe Biden made a landmark statement that the war inUkraine has reached a critical point. The ex-head of the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine, army general Mykola Malomuzh, explained whether these words of the American head of state mean that a turning point in the war is yet to come.
In an interview with “Obozrevatel”, he noted that the turning point is not a one-moment process. This is both the defense of Kyiv and the liberation of Kharkiv Oblast and Kherson.
And Biden’s words, Malomuzh continued, indicate that new decisive stages await Ukraine in the war with Russia:
“For example, in winter and spring there may be powerful operations in the south of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, as far as Crimea, as well as an offensive in the Luhansk direction and strikes against the Donetsk group for the liberation of Donbas.”
In addition, the general says, it is important to weaken the Putin regime or even overthrow it. And this is possible not only under the condition of successful operations of the Armed Forces at the front, but also through powerful international pressure on the Russian Federation. But the decisive factor, of course, will be the victory of Ukraine.
The situation on the Ukrainian front today
Earlier, Zelenskyy stated that 2023 will be a turning point in the war for Ukraine’s freedom from Russian aggression. He said American support was critical to “get to the tipping point for victory on the battlefield.” The president emphasized that Ukrainian defenders are holding back the advance of the Russian army in Bakhmut, but to force the Russian army to leave Ukraine completely, more guns and ammunition are needed.
From February 24, 2022 to January 9, 2023, about 111,760 occupiers have already been turned into fertilizer by the Armed Forces. Only last day, 590 rashists were liquidated. Also, during the day, the Armed Forces shot down 3 enemy helicopters and 3 enemy reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles.
Previously, Russia aimed to seize the entire Donetsk and Luhansk regions, but now all the efforts of the invaders are focused on the battles for Bakhmut. Our soldiers bravely repulse a series of Russian attacks every day.
