The odious former People’s Deputy and Putin’s godfather Viktor Medvedchuk “distinguished himself” with an article about Ukraine, taking into account all the propaganda narratives of Russia. In particular, he stated that the West is to blame for the war started by Russia.

In an article published in Izvestia, Medvedchuk accused Europe and the US of “not wanting peace in Ukraine.” According to Putin’s disgraced godfather, the world should consider Russia’s interests.

“The Ukrainian Peace Party is not respected in Europe or the USA. This speaks eloquently that the majority of American and European politicians do not want any peace in Ukraine,” he said.

He also called on pro-Russian politicians to create a “political movement” in Ukraine. According to him, this movement should be led by those “who did not give up and did not renounce their beliefs under the threat of death and prison.”

Separately, Medvedchuk mentioned the possibility of nuclear war. He believes that Russia’s “interests” in the construction of a new detente should be taken into account in order to avoid a nuclear conflict.

Arrest and exchange of Medvedchuk

In May 2021, Viktor Medvedchuk, who was still in office at the time, was suspected of treason.

At the end of February, when the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine began, Medvedchuk escaped from house arrest, but in April he was again detained by the SBU and sent to the SIZO.

On September 21, as part of the exchange of prisoners, Medvedchuk was handed over to Russia, receiving 200 Ukrainian fighters for him. As reported by the Turkish mass media, the request for the exchange of treason suspect and head of the OPZZ party Viktor Medvedchuk came from the Russian side.

On January 13, the Verkhovna Rada prematurely terminated the mandate of People’s Deputy Viktor Medvedchuk.
