The expert says that the Russians hit the Dnieper, realizing that the rocket could hit residential buildings.
Roman Svitan, a military expert, military pilot-instructor and reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, stated that during the attack on the Dnipro, the Russian occupiers knew perfectly well where the missile was going, since the Kh-22 cannot go exactly to the target. The circular probable deviation is about 300 meters, but 50% of these missiles can hit a territory with a diameter of 2 km from the target.
On the air of the “Espresso” TV channel, the expert noted that the Kh-22 missiles are mainly used against aircraft carriers and aircraft carrier groups, as well as for the transfer of the main tactical nuclear ammunition with certain kilotons. However, they can also work on ground targets.
“This missile cannot go exactly to the target, it can have a circular deviation of about 300 meters, that is, it is such a “saucer” with a diameter of 600 meters. When aiming and carrying out certain tasks of calculating the route and target from the pilot who launched the missile to the commander the regiment, navigators of the squadron and the regiment – everyone knew perfectly well where the missile was going, and the Kh-22 was going into this “saucer”, in which, most likely, one of the infrastructure facilities is located, but in a circular probable deviation with a radius of 300 meters, and in diameter. 600 meters, only 50% of these missiles hit, and the remaining 50% of the launched Kh-22 missiles hit within a kilometer radius, that is, a “saucer” with a diameter of 2 km,” Svitan explained.
According to him, within a radius of two kilometers from the place where the house was hit in Dnipro, there is a thermal power plant and a micro-district in which there are only high-rise residential buildings.
“Therefore, those who planned this attack perfectly understood where the rocket was going. That is, the Russians covered the thermal power plant and the neighborhood with such a two-kilometer “saucer”, the expert noted.
A rocket hit a house in Dnipro
On Saturday, January 14, 2023, the Russian military hit a high-rise building in Dnipro with an Kh-22 missile. As a result of being hit by an enemy rocket, one of the entrances to the building was completely destroyed. People were under the rubble.
As of the morning of January 16, it was known that 35 people had died as a result of the strike. Rescuers continue to clear the debris. It was later reported that the number of victims of the Russian strike reached 40.
The mayor of Dnipro, Boris Filatov, voiced an assumption as to where Russia actually wanted to go with the Kh-22 missile that “flew” into a 9-story residential building. He said that the occupiers could aim at the Prydniprovsk TPP.
The media reports that before the deadly missile attack on January 14, teenagers were detained in Dnipro who were taking photos of the TPP in the city and calling Russian numbers.
