Emergency shutdowns have been implemented in six regions.
In the energy system of Ukraine, there is a deficit, six regions with emergency shutdowns. NEC “Ukrenergo” reports this in Telegram.
“As of 10:30 a.m. on January 17, there is a significant power deficit in the energy system, especially in the morning and evening peaks of consumption. These are the consequences of massive missile and drone attacks on the energy infrastructure,” the message reads.
It is noted that daily consumption limits have been established for all operators of distribution systems. Each operator in its region makes schedules of planned hourly outages, which should ensure consumption of the region at the level of the proven limit. Currently, due to their excess, emergency shutdowns have already been applied in six regions of Ukraine.
“Also due to adverse weather conditions (gusty wind, icing of wires) in the central regions there are local outages in the networks of distribution system operators, power is being restored,” the energy company added.
Reduction of electricity limits: what is known
Due to the massive missile attack on January 14, Ukraine reduced electricity consumption limits, so the time of outages may increase.
“Ukrenergo” recommends visiting the websites of the local operator of distribution networks (oblenergo) to clarify the situation regarding a specific region or city.
