Officials called on the Biden and Scholz governments to follow the example of allies from Britain and Eastern Europe.
The Congress of the United States of America urged the administration of Joe Biden to urgently transfer to Ukraine the weapons systems necessary to defeat the invaders in the war started by Russia.
“The current hand-wringing and indecision of the Biden administration and some of our European allies on the issue of providing critical weapons systems to Ukraine smacks of a weak 2021 policy, such as the waiver of sanctions on Nord Stream-2 or the failure to provide American Stingers before full-scale deployment,” it says. in a statement by Republicans Michael McCaul and Mike Rogers, published on the website of the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
American officials noted that “although this policy has failed to contain this conflict, the current indecision and self-restraint will continue it, costing Ukrainian lives.”
“It is time for the Biden and Scholz governments to follow the example of our allies from the UK and Eastern Europe – Leopard 2 tanks, ATACMS and other high-precision long-range munitions must be approved without delay,” McCall and Rogers emphasized in a statement.
