There will still be attempts to break through the defenses of the Ukrainian defenders in one of the directions in the Luhansk Region.

Military expert, Colonel Petro Chernyk of the Ukrainian Armed Forces believes that the Russian occupying forces will not launch a “major offensive” in Luhansk region. However, he does not rule out such a scenario, since they repeatedly went on “crazy actions”.

“So far, it is difficult for me to understand how they can manage to carry out any serious breakthrough operations (in Luhansk region – ed.). Let’s say to a depth of up to 15 km, which is the depth of the mechanized brigade near Bakhmut, which they allegedly “took”, and Soledar. which is already completely “under their control”. Since August 1, in these two directions, they have advanced only about 15 km. At the expense of what, with what quality equipment will they carry out these breakthrough operations? It’s hard for me to imagine it yet, but at the same time I don’t rule out their madness,” Chernyk said in an interview with TSN.

However, according to the Colonel of the Armed Forces, there will still be attempts to break through the defenses of the Ukrainian defenders in one of the directions in the Luhansk region.

“Chornobaivka and Fr. Zmeiny teach us that they can resort to such tactical situations and decisions that cannot be interpreted from the point of view of common sense. Will they try? Definitely yes. But at what point and in what way – it is not yet known,” he emphasized expert.

The situation in Luhansk region

In late December 2022, analysts at the American Institute for the Study of War said that Russian forces had begun preparations for “decisive action” in the Luhansk region. It is not yet clear to experts whether these will be defensive or offensive operations, but they noted that it could be a “decisive offensive.”

Already in January 2023, operators of the Special Operations Forces, together with other units of the Defense Forces, stopped an attempt to attack the Russians near the city of Kreminna, Luhansk region. The attack was repulsed, despite the fact that the enemy tried to use heavy weapons.

In addition, the Center of National Resistance warned that the occupiers in Luhansk Region dress in the uniform of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and prepare provocations.
