Pistorius emphasized that he “doesn’t know anything about this connection.”
The new Minister of Defense of Germany, Boris Pistorius, said that the delivery of German Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine should not be tied to the transfer of American M1 Abrams tanks by the United States.
During an interview with the German channel ARD, Pistorius, in response to a question whether Germany is ready to supply Leopard tanks to Ukraine only if the United States supplies Abrams battle tanks, emphasized that he “doesn’t know anything about this connection.”
At the same time, when asked whether Germany would supply battle tanks without the US, Pistorius said that Chancellor Olaf Scholz is discussing with US President Joe Biden.
“I am absolutely sure that we will receive a decision on this issue in the next few days. But today I cannot tell you what it will look like,” he emphasized.
