Hitting enemy anti-aircraft installations 200 kilometers from our border is a very real task.
Yuriy Ignat, the representative of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that the help that Ukraine will receive from its partners after the next meeting in the “Ramstein” format will allow it to effectively resist Russian missile attacks. However, in countering the S-300 and S-400 installations, the best option is to destroy them.
“Obviously, there will be a powerful aid package on Ramstein. In particular, we are talking about the NASAMS, IRIS-T, and Patriot systems. And this is exactly what can shoot down ballistic missiles. But it is the S-300 and S-400 that are the best “inoculation” – this is the destruction of the installations themselves,” Ignat said on the air of the national telethon.
According to him, hitting anti-aircraft installations 200 kilometers from our border is a very real task.
“It can be artillery, it can be operational-tactical complexes. And let’s not forget that we have attack drones, which can also be used to thin out the enemy’s anti-aircraft defenses a little,” added the representative of the Air Force.
Use of S-300 and S-400 by Russia in the war
In mid-January, Russia hit Kyiv for the first time with S-400 missiles. As noted by military expert Serhii Zgurets, this is done to carry out purely terrorist tasks, because these missiles are reasonably accurate for hitting the ground.
The Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces noted that the more frequent use of S-300 anti-aircraft missile systems by the Russian occupiers against ground targets in Ukraine indicates a decrease in ballistic missile stocks.
At the same time, the Center for Countering Disinformation at the National Security Council stressed that the only option for Ukraine to protect against Russian S-300 and S-400 missiles remains the destruction of the launchers themselves directly at the positions.
