Vadym Prystaiko said that the crews are about to start training in Great Britain.
Training of Ukrainian crews for Challenger 2 tanks will begin in Great Britain in the near future.
“The crews are about to start training on the territory of Great Britain. The crews of heavy artillery systems are already training, and tankers will also arrive in the near future,” Ukrainian ambassador to Britain Vadym Prystaiko told RFE/RL.
Prystayko added that the training will not last long, because, as the British instructors note, the Ukrainian military is motivated and learns very quickly.
“When we train infantrymen here (you know, we have already trained 10,000, and from the beginning of the new year we started another 20,000), it takes five weeks. It is difficult to say how much it will be necessary to train tank crews – especially since they are also gunners , and mechanics, and commanders. I think that in a month or a half it is possible to cope. If necessary, the training will be continued, as it was before,” the ambassador noted.
According to Prystayk, the tanks are already being prepared for shipment to Ukraine.
“The tanks that have been prepared for us are already being prepared for departure to Ukraine,” the ambassador said.
