The transfer of aircraft is a matter of time, the expert believes.
Military expert Oleg Zhdanov commented on the latest news that Ukraine may receive American F-16 fighter jets and British analogues of ATACMS long-range missiles.
He reminded that the issue of the transfer of aircraft to Ukraine was raised by the Netherlands, and the USA has already reacted positively to it: “So, the issue of the transfer of the F-16 is only a matter of time. And, as far as I understand, a matter of the near future. It could be a few weeks or several months. But as Lloyd Austin said, the window of opportunity is until the spring. Therefore, I think that, most likely, by the spring we will receive Western aviation in the Defense Forces of Ukraine.”
Zhdanov also reminded of Britain’s readiness to transfer ATACMS missile analogues to Ukraine, which can be used with HIMARS rocket launchers.
“If we get aviation and missiles, we will complete the entire list of weapons that we need to win this war,” the expert summarized.
It will be recalled that it was previously reported that the Netherlands is ready to consider the transfer of F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine if they receive a corresponding request.
The US ambassador to the OSCE, Michael Carpenter, said that he expects broad support in the States for a possible decision by the Netherlands to transfer F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine: “We have long been of the opinion that what our allies supply is their business. And we support countless contributions ( in defense) that our allies contributed to Ukraine.
