Kovalenko believes that the war in Ukraine will end much sooner than Russia can increase its army to 1.5 million people.
Oleksandr Kovalenko, a military-political analyst of the Information Resistance group, believes that the increase of the Russian army to 1.5 million people by 2026, announced by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu, is not a serious threat to Ukraine as of today. However, it can be dangerous for future generations.
“Let’s look at this situation in the following way – will they actually increase the army by 300,000 within three years? The war in Ukraine will end much earlier than Russia can increase its army to such a number. Therefore, for Ukraine, it is not such a threat as of today. In in the future for future generations – yes, indeed. There will always be a threat from the Russian army of 1.5 million,” the expert said in an interview with TSN.
According to Kovalenko, the creation of new motorized rifle divisions by Russia is an interesting fact. The question arises whether the Russian Federation has the opportunity to provide new units and provide them with equipment.
“Now we see that they cannot even fully provide the units that they send to the combat zone, they do not have enough, they do not have time to lift (the equipment – ed.) out of conservation, repair it, etc. Bringing exactly that equipment to a combat-ready state , which is needed, so I have great doubts that they will be able to fully form new units at all, especially now that everyone else in the Russian army also needs replenishment. 100% manned. All of them are undermanned by 30% or more,” he added .
Problems in the army of the Russian Federation
The deputy head of the GUR of the MoD, Major General Vadym Skibytskyi, said that in case of the mobilization of another 500,000 Russians, which the Russian Federation plans to carry out, which is being talked about more and more often, the aggressor countries will have problems with providing them. Also, the mobilized Russians remain extremely unmotivated and poorly armed.
In addition, the Russians are transferring Soviet weapons to Ukraine. In particular, howitzers of the 1943 model were delivered to the Bakhmut direction. Dmytro Snegiriov, a military expert and co-chairman of the Prava Prasva OI, explained that this shows that the Russian Federation is running out of artillery systems.
