Recently, the invaders said that they will not restore the plant because they do not need it.
The Russian occupiers have set up a base for military helicopters on the territory of the Azovstal plant they destroyed in occupied Mariupol. Mayor’s advisor Petro Andryushchenko reported this on Telegram.
“High helicopter activity. The occupiers have set up a helicopter base on the territory of Azovstal,” he said.
According to Andryushchenko, Mi-8 helicopters are based on the territory of the destroyed plant.
“At least 10 takeoffs were recorded during daylight hours today. The priority direction of flights is the Zaporizhzhia region,” he noted.
The situation in Mariupol
The other day, the Russian occupiers announced that they do not plan to restore the Azovstal plant, which they destroyed in the spring along with mostly residential areas.
On January 24, it became known that Russia appointed as the new “mayor” of the occupied city of Mariupol Oleg Morgun, who was sentenced by the Ukrainian court to 11 years in prison for his participation in the DPR terrorist organization.
On the same day, the Armed Forces attacked the barracks where more than 200 occupiers were staying. According to Andryushchenko, there were mostly Dagestanis or Kadyrovs.
