Dmytro Pavlychko was buried in the village cemetery next to the graves of his parents.
In Prykarpattia, they said goodbye to the legendary Ukrainian poet Dmytro Pavlychk. As he had bequeathed, he was buried in his native village of Stopchatov. During his lifetime, the poet called this place his spiritual well and tried to come there more often. The last time I was here was a year before the full scale invasion.
According to the story of TSN, hundreds of people gathered in the yard near the old house in Stopchatov. Dmytro Pavlychko was born here in a large family 93 years ago. From here he wanted to go on his last journey, which he wrote about in a poem two years ago:
“Bury me on Ratunda, brother,
So that I could hear how the mountain rug flies,
How my spirit revives from the fathers of my tongue,
My heart aches from Hutsul music…”
Pavlychko called his native village his spiritual well, he visited his parents’ house every year as long as his health permitted. The house was mostly closed, it was Dmytro who breathed life into it, because he really liked to manage.
Dmytro Pavlychko is a legendary poet, every Ukrainian knows one of his works almost from diapers – “Two Colors”. Shakespeare, Baudelaire, Dante – it was thanks to his translations that Ukrainians became acquainted with world classics. And he is also one of the authors of the Act of Proclamation of Independence of Ukraine.

Ukrainian sixties poet Dmytro Pavlychko was one of the organizers of the People’s Movement of Ukraine, a member of the Verkhovna Rada, worked as an ambassador in Canada, Slovakia, and Poland.
Many of Pavlychko’s works became songs, the most famous composition based on the poet’s words is “Two Colors”. The music for this text was written by the composer Oleksandr Bilash.
On January 29, it became known that Dmytro Pavlychko died. The poet was 93 years old.
