According to the expert, our defenders eliminated almost the entire Russian landing party at the beginning of the invasion of the Russian Federation near Kyiv.
Military expert Oleg Zhdanov assessed the threat of a new landing of Russian troops in Ukraine. He recalled that at the beginning of the invasion in February 2022, paratroopers tried to land in Gostomel and Vasylkiv in the Kyiv region, but the Ukrainian military repelled these attempts.
During a broadcast on his YouTube channel, Zhdanov emphasized that at that time our defenders eliminated almost the entire Russian landing force. And the occupiers still cannot recover from those events. However, even despite the heavy losses, it is impossible to say that the Russian amphibious assault is a thing of the past.
“We are currently considering one of the options for an invasion of Ukraine by Belarus. We understand that it is not today, tomorrow or the day after tomorrow. It may be in the medium term, if the Russian Federation begins to form a strike group. But as an option, we can consider the landing of an amphibious assault by Belarus with the aim of seizing a bridgehead and breaking through our defenses on the border. Is it possible – theoretically yes. Practically – the Russian Federation does not have the forces and funds. We considered the possibility of landing a naval landing in Odesa – there is none either,” the expert said.
According to Zhdanov, Russia managed to impose on us a positional war similar to the Second World War, during which it is very difficult to conduct amphibious operations – both sea and land.
“But in a modern war, landing an amphibious assault, seizing an object and holding the approach of the main forces is quite acceptable,” he added.
Russian landing forces in the war in Ukraine
Yuriy Ignat, a representative of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, commenting on the threat of a repetition of the “landing operation” of the Russian Federation, said that the situation is still different from the one on February 24, 2022, when the occupiers carried out a daring surprise attack on the outskirts of Kyiv. Currently, the defense forces are ready to face the enemy with dignity.
Military expert Oleg Zhdanov assessed the threat of Russia conducting an amphibious operation with the aim of capturing Kyiv. According to him, such a possibility exists, but the Russian Federation will not be able to implement it. All airfields are guarded, and any city in Ukraine today is filled with troops.
In addition, Ukrainian soldiers continue to eliminate the “second army of the world”. This time, the top paratrooper of the Russian Federation, Oleksandr Makarov, was “double-crossed”.
