Counterintelligence of the Security Service neutralized a group of FSB agents in the Dnipropetrovsk region.

As the press center of the SBU reported, the perpetrators gathered intelligence about the locations of deployment and movement of units of the Defense Forces in the front-line areas of eastern Ukraine.

It is emphasized that, first of all, they tried to reveal the location of the conspiratorial bases of the Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, as well as the location of engineering fortifications and training centers of the Ukrainian troops.

“For this, the enemy’s henchmen constantly tried to expand their own network of informants, including among the Ukrainian military and law enforcement officers. In addition, in the case of the approach of occupation groups to the Dnipropetrovsk region, FSB agents were to provide them with support in the form of sabotage and terrorist attacks on the territory of the region. According to data agency, the agent group was headed by a former employee of the local unit of the disbanded militia, who was recruited by the Russian special service long before the start of the full-scale invasion. In 2018, the enemy intensified the activities of its residency to collect intelligence information,” the report says.

The special service noted that in the event of the capture of the region, the Russian invaders promised their henchmen leadership “positions” in the local occupation administrations.

The employees of the SBU gradually documented the facts of the criminal activities of enemy agents.

During searches of their residences, law enforcement officers found firearms with silencers; combat grenades; cartridges of various calibers; means of communication for conspiratorial communication with representatives of the FSB.

As part of the criminal proceedings initiated by SBU investigators under Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason), the issue of notifying the accused of suspicion and choosing a preventive measure in the form of detention is decided.
