Why is the “Offensive Guard” being created in Ukraine – the general’s explanation

The eight assault brigades of the “Offensive Guard” will begin to be used when the Armed Forces successfully carry out a strategic defense operation.

The general explained for what purpose they are being created

Military expert Lieutenant General Ihor Romanenko stated that the assault brigades formed by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine as part of the creation of the “Offensive Guard” will be very important during the counteroffensive operations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. They will deal exclusively with the de-occupation of territories.

As he told “Channel 24”, 8 assault brigades of the “Offensive Guard” will begin to be used when the Armed Forces successfully carry out a strategic defense operation. He predicts that the Ukrainian military will launch a counteroffensive after the enemy loses its offensive potential. And then the time of the “Advance Guard” will come.

According to Romanenko, the units of the Armed Forces will try to break through the front and move forward as quickly as possible, without lingering in the liberated settlements. He assumes that brigades from the “Offensive Guard” will clear these cities and villages.

“If the Armed Forces are delayed at each settlement, the offensive momentum will be blocked very quickly. And this is unacceptable. Therefore, when the settlement is surrounded, these brigades from the “Offensive Guard” will enter there and carry out sweeps. And at this time, the units of the Armed Forces will continue to liberate the territories,” said Romanenko.

Counteroffensive of the Armed Forces: what is known

The Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov told what Ukraine needs for a counteroffensive and victory in the war. He emphasized that the creation of an anti-aircraft and anti-missile defense system must be completed as soon as possible, because Russia continues to carry out systematic and barbaric attacks on Ukrainian cities and kill civilians. There is also a need for various types of long-range weapons.

At the same time, military expert Oleg Zhdanov called on Ukrainians not to expect a new counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the near future with the return of territories. According to him, to begin with, the Ukrainian defenders need to conduct a defensive operation, and only then they will be able to launch a counterattack.
