NEC network limitations do not allow the system to work fully.
Currently, generation in Ukraine has increased, but as the temperature drops, so does electricity consumption.
As next week is expected to be cold, power outages in the capital may become longer, said Serhiy Kovalenko, head of the YASNO energy company.
“According to the forecasts, the week will be cold, so the load on the power system will increase. It is quite likely that colleagues will have to apply longer shutdowns. Although generation has increased, consumption has also increased due to the frost. Also, NEC network restrictions do not allow the system to work at full capacity. In addition, snow and frost can be the cause of additional accidents on the lines. Therefore, please use electrical appliances carefully. In case of accidents, contact the condominium or colleagues from the OSR,” he said.
According to Kovalenko, on Tuesday, February 7, “Ukrenergo” provided the following restrictions: Kyiv – 1147 MW per day and 768 MW at night, Dnipro – 1707 MW per day and 1652 MW at night. A day earlier, “Ukrenergo” set a limit of 1,152 MW on average in Kyiv, and 1,422 MW in the Dnipropetrovsk region from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The situation with electricity supply in Kyiv and across Ukraine
As a result of 13 missile and 15 drone attacks by Russia on the energy system of Ukraine, power plants and high-voltage networks were damaged. There is still a power deficit, which is especially noticeable in the morning and evening hours.
On February 6, DTEK warned that in the near future the situation with electricity in Kyiv and other regions may worsen due to the increase in consumption against the background of the cold weather.
In Odesa and the Odesa region, an accident occurred at one of the facilities of NEC “Ukrenergo”, which was repeatedly hit by rockets and kamikaze drone attacks. As a result of the incident, emergency shutdowns are ongoing. As of the evening of February 6, more than 359,000 subscribers in Odesa and Odesa district remain without electricity. Part of the repair work is planned to be completed by the end of the week in order to reach the pre-emergency blackout schedules, according to which the lights are on for three hours and off for six.
At the same time, it is expected that the situation with electricity supply in the country will improve in the near future, as the supply of electricity from the EU will increase significantly.
