Military expert Oleg Zhdanov mentioned the advantages of Western tanks that Ukraine will receive compared to Russian equipment. According to him, Leopard tanks are superior in accuracy even to the Russian T-90.
“Technologically, Western tanks, for example, the version of the Leopard 2A5, which Germany hands over to us, it certainly surpasses even the Russian T-90 “Breakthrough” tank in terms of accuracy and targeting speed, I’m not talking about the T-72,” he explained during the broadcast on his YouTube channel.

“The T-80 also remains the T-80. It is not a new tank in terms of design. But the Leopard A5, yes, it is more modern (technique – ed.) or even the Leopard A4 is ready to compete with these tanks and it is technologically better, more equipped . Everything depends on the configuration version. Well, I hope that we will not be given the worst configuration of these tanks. Yes, yes, then Russian tankers will be in for a huge surprise on the battlefield,” Zhdanov emphasized.
Western tanks for Ukraine: the latest news
The first Leopard 2 tank that Canada sent to Ukraine as part of a new military aid package has arrived in Poland. In total, the country will transfer four such tanks.
In addition, Portugal will transfer to Ukraine a certain number of Leopard 2 tanks that it has. However, the quantity and delivery dates are still unknown.
At the same time, Fedir Venislavskyi, a member of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security and the representative of the President of Ukraine in the parliament, noted that 500 to 700 tanks are needed for the complete liberation of the territories of Ukraine occupied by Russia. Kyiv will not give guarantees of non-use of Western equipment against targets in the Russian Federation.
