The Kremlin dictator will break through with columns of tanks, the expert believes.
Russian publicist and oppositionist from the USA Andriy Piontkovsky pointed out factors that may indicate that Kremlin dictator Vladimir Putin is preparing a new large-scale offensive.
“There are quite serious signs that Putin will go on some kind of adventure. He will not just continue to advance from street to street of Bakhmut with bodies of mobilized people, but will try to break through with tank columns,” the expert said, channel 24 reports.
Among the factors that indicate the preparation for such an offensive, Piontkovsky named Putin’s address to the federal assembly scheduled for February 22, which had been postponed since last year.
“And what is he supposed to do? Say that the Russians have taken over one of the streets on the outskirts of Bakhmut? No, he is going to do something bigger.”
In addition, according to Piontkovsky, the so-called “leak” from the General Staff of the Russian Federation appeared in the Russian liberal media that officers are working on an offensive plan that could begin around mid-February: “Mechanized convoys and tank attacks are mentioned.”
The new offensive of the Russian Federation – news about the threat
The Institute for the Study of War concluded that the Russians are in a hurry to launch a new large-scale offensive. They want to be in time for the arrival of heavy Western equipment to Ukraine.
According to military expert Oleksiy Melnyk, the leadership of the Russian Federation needs something to brag about the anniversary of the large-scale offensive, which is why they are interested in a new attack.
