An orange level of danger has been declared in the mountains.
Today, a severe frost hit the Carpathian highlands. According to rescuers, the temperature on Mount Pip Ivan Chornohorsky dropped below 20 degrees.
“On Mount Pip Ivan Chornohorsky, it is cloudy with clearings, the wind is northerly, 5 m/sec, the air temperature is -22°C,” – reported the Chornohorsky mountain search and rescue post.
At the same time, weather forecasters of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center announced a warning about the possibility of avalanches in the Carpathians.
“Due to the intensive increase in snow cover in the highlands of the eastern part of Zakarpattia region, a significant avalanche danger is expected in the mountains of Ivano-Frankivsk and Chernivtsi regions,” the warning reads.
As noted, danger level 3, orange, has been declared in the mountains.
Soon, such low temperatures are expected not only in the Carpathian highlands, but also in other regions of the country. Forecaster Ihor Kibalchich warned about this.
According to his forecast, the air temperature this week will be 1-4 degrees below normal, and the residents of western Ukraine will feel the most noticeable temperature drop. In particular, on February 9 in the Carpathians and Prykarpattia, frost will hit -22…-17 degrees at night.
