According to CNN, at least 3,419 people died in Turkey and more than 20,500 were injured. To date, 11,000 buildings have been damaged in Turkey. In neighboring Syria, the death toll has risen to 1,602.

On the night of February 6, a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 occurred in the border areas of Turkey and Syria. Then there were dozens of aftershocks.
This is the strongest earthquake in Turkey since 1939. Earthquakes were also felt in Egypt, Lebanon and Iraq.
As a result of the earthquake, more than a thousand buildings collapsed, including the historic fortress of Gaziantep, built over 2,200 years.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already received 24 appeals regarding the lack of contact with Ukrainian citizens living in areas of Turkey where earthquakes occurred.
