The summit of the leaders of the member states of the European Union should agree on the provision of more weapons for Ukraine.

The Vice President of the European Commission, High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, said this before the start of the European Council meeting.

“I will take part in the debate together with President Zelensky, the result of which, I am sure, will be more support for Ukraine: the provision of more weapons, more military support, more financial support in order to make Ukraine capable of countering Russian aggression,” Borrell emphasized.

EU summit in Brussels

As reported, a special meeting of the European Council is taking place in Brussels on February 9-10. In particular, at the summit of the leaders of the member states of the European Union, all aspects of unwavering support for Ukraine will be considered.

Today, February 9, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyi arrived in Brussels and spoke at the European Parliament.

Yesterday he paid a visit to Great Britain and France. He held a meeting with the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Rishi Sunak, and also delivered a speech in the British Parliament. In addition, Zelenskyi met with the British King Charles III in London.

In Paris, Zelensky met with French President Emmanuel Macron and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
