While the whole world empathizes with and helps Turkey, neighboring Syria is left with almost no help.
Amid the general attention to the mass destruction and casualties in Turkey, the residents of neighboring areas of Syria, which were also affected by the earthquake, found themselves abandoned by the international community. This was announced by UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Aid and Emergency Relief Coordinator Martin Griffiths.
“We have failed the people in northwestern Syria. They rightly feel abandoned. Waiting for international aid that has not arrived. It is my duty and our duty to correct this failure as quickly as we can. I am focused on that now,” he said. UN Deputy Secretary General.
According to him, the number of trucks carrying humanitarian aid to the affected areas of Syria has increased significantly. However, more access points for humanitarian aid to Syrians need to be opened.
