The Russian Federation uses airfields located, in particular, in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.
Yuriy Hnat, the spokesman of the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said that Russia uses about 40 airfields in its aggression against our country. Moreover, not all of these airfields are located near the Russian Federation.
As he noted on the Espresso broadcast, Russian planes are constantly on the territory of Belarus. These are fighters and bombers.
“Now Russian bomber and attack aircraft are operating in the east of Ukraine. Yesterday, a Russian attack aircraft and a bomber were destroyed by the air defense forces of Ukraine,” Ignat added.
The representative of the Air Force emphasized that the enemy uses not only Belarusian airfields, which are actually occupied by Russia.
“The Russians also use airfields in the occupied Ukrainian territories, in the occupied Crimea. About 40 airfields are used by Russia in aggression against our state,” Ignat concluded.
Attacks on Russian airfields
In the summer of 2022, “cotton” happened at the Russian airfield in Novofedorivka in occupied Crimea. Military expert Oleg Zhdanov suggests that the strikes could have been carried out with the help of long-range drones or modified anti-ship missiles.
On February 8, 2023, Ukrainian defenders entered the military airfield in the temporarily occupied Berdyansk, Zaporizhzhia region, which was also used by Russian troops. More than 100 invaders were eliminated.
At the end of January, satellite images were released showing that the Russian occupiers are forming defense lines near the airfield in the temporarily occupied Berdyansk. At the same time, aircraft were recorded on the territory of the airport.
