The hryvnia-to-dollar exchange rate at bank exchange offices in Kyiv today strengthened by 5 kopecks to UAH 40.05/dollar.
According to the correspondent, the hryvnia exchange rate against the euro also strengthened by 5 kopecks and is 42.80 hryvnias/euro.

The war in Ukraine and the course
Before the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the hryvnia had a floating exchange rate. Due to the war, the official exchange rate of the hryvnia on February 24, 2022 was fixed at the level of UAH 29.25/dollar.
From May 21, 2022, the National Bank canceled restrictions on setting the exchange rate at which authorized institutions can sell cash foreign currency to clients. Previously, the relevant exchange rate should not have deviated from the official rate by more than 10%.
On July 21, the National Bank weakened the official exchange rate of the hryvnia by 25% to UAH 36.57/dollar.
What will be the course until the end of February
Director of the Treasury Department of “Cominbank” Herman Marchenko predicted that the dollar exchange rate in Ukraine may decrease in price by mid-February and end up within the corridor of 39.5-40 UAH/dollar.
Analyst Oleksiy Kozyrev predicted that in February, banks will set their quotes within the corridor from 39.70 to 41.10 hryvnias, and the euro – from 42.20 to 44.25 hryvnias. Kozyrev also predicted that Ukraine will not be able to completely avoid devaluation in 2023, and the quotations of the cash dollar when buying/selling will range from 39.30 to 40.65 UAH/dollar, and the euro – from 41.50 to 43.50 UAH /euro.
Economist Serhiy Fursa noted that there are currently no forecasters in Ukraine that would indicate that the dollar will reach the 50 hryvnias/dollar mark.
The head of the National Bank of Ukraine Andriy Pishnyi said that there is a serious threat to the exchange rate of the hryvnia against the dollar in 2023.
