Russia has long resorted to nuclear blackmail, making statements that it can use this type of weapon.
Russia is taking ships of the Northern Fleet with tactical nuclear weapons to the Black Sea, which cannot help but frighten. But the representative of Ukrainian intelligence at the Ministry of Defense Andriy Yusov reassured on the air of the telethon: the Russian Federation will not be able to press the “nuclear button”.
“The racists can continue nuclear blackmail, but in general, like other pseudo-blitzkriegs, this story did not work. Neither Ukraine was scared, nor the world,” he says.
Yusov is convinced that inside the Russian elite they understand that this is playing with fire. And “approaching someone’s old finger to the “red button” will mean the collapse of Russia, the intelligence representative added.
“They can threaten, Medvedev can write many more angry posts when drunk, but it won’t scare anyone,” Yusov assured.
For the first time in 30 years, ships of the Russian Federation went to sea with nuclear weapons – what is known
As Norwegian intelligence reported the day before, for the first time since the collapse of the USSR, ships of the Russian Northern Fleet went to sea with tactical nuclear weapons on board.
“The main part of the nuclear potential is placed on submarines and surface ships of the Northern Fleet… Both the probability of misunderstanding between Russia and NATO and the risk of unintended incidents are increasing, which, in turn, increases the risk of escalation,” the report says.
It is noted that tactical nuclear weapons pose a serious threat in the scenario of a potential confrontation between Russia and NATO.
In December 2022, Putin stated that “the threat of nuclear war is growing.” At the same time, he also assured that Russia will not be the first to use nuclear weapons.
The State Department called Putin’s new “nuclear” threats “empty”.
