The family of fluffy ferrets includes 2 boys and 6 girls. Zoo workers have already invented interesting nicknames for them.
The Kyiv Zoological Park of national importance was touched by the story of the rescue of a whole family of ferrets – domestic ferrets, which were brought to the institution in the spring of 2022.
As the zoo employees wrote on Facebook, the animals came to them very exhausted and frightened because of the hostilities that the Russians were conducting in the Kyiv region at that time. It is about 8 animals: 2 boys and 6 girls, which the employees humorously named Captain Schnitzel, Cola, Yolk, Squirrel, Cone, Peach, Cocoa and Nut.
“All the animals were exhausted, scared and needed serious veterinary care. And now, after eight months of rehabilitation, we are happy to present the rescued ferrets in their new home,” the publication says.
The workers noted that the new inhabitants of the zoo are very playful and interesting animals: you can watch their fun for hours.
Kyiv residents will be able to see this for themselves on February 18-19, as part of the demonstration feeding of ferrets by zoo workers. The event will take place at 12:00 in the Bear Continent module, the zoo’s website said.
How the “little inhabitants” of zoos in the Kyiv region survive the war with the Russian Federation
We will remind that since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russians into Ukraine, the actions of the occupiers have significantly affected Ukrainian animals, in particular, the inhabitants of zoos in the Kyiv region, which faced a shortage of water, food and appropriate living conditions due to active hostilities. After the de-occupation of the Kyiv region, the Ukrainian military animal needed considerable rehabilitation by zoo workers.
Recently, they showed three small tiger cubs. The mother of the striped babies survived the occupation, she became pregnant only a day before the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine.
Now the animals are coming to their senses from the emotions they experienced, and the institutions, despite the war, continue to live their lives: two weeks ago, the Kyiv Zoo was replenished – a guanaco llama was born there. The baby was named Lucia.
