The politician gave arguments regarding the expediency of supplying military aircraft to Ukraine.
Mykhailo Podolyak, adviser to the head of the President’s Office, named two types of aviation that are critically needed by the Armed Forces of Ukraine to counter a massive air offensive of the Russian Federation.
Podolyak gave the relevant arguments of the West about military supplies to Ukraine on his Twitter, clarifying that the country needs fighter jets and attack aircraft.
According to him, fighter jets should “completely close” the sky of Ukraine from ballistic and hypersonic missiles and save the lives of civilians.
“Attack aviation is needed to ensure a breakthrough of the Russian defense in the occupied territories, cover our offensive and minimize losses,” he wrote.
Ukraine calls on the West to provide fighter jets to protect against Russian missiles
Earlier it became known that the Russian army decided to massively use aviation in the war in Ukraine, which was previously kept in reserve by the Russian Armed Forces. As Fedir Venislavskyi, a member of the Verkhovna Rada’s Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence, reported, in the period of February 22-24, the aggressor can launch up to a hundred missiles in the cities of Ukraine.
Against this background, Ukraine is trying to maximize negotiations with partners regarding the supply of fighter jets, which should help protect Ukrainians from Russian missiles. In particular, it is about the transfer of American F-16 fighter jets, with the help of which Kyiv can also deliver “deep strikes” against the occupiers.
As the Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andriy Melnyk noted, the decision to provide Ukraine with fighter jets will be made, but time will be lost, which is invaluable for the Ukrainian military at the front.
