Other aid sent to Ukraine can also be delayed for several days.
The delivery of aid to Ukraine from Finland, announced last week, has been postponed. The reason for this was the dockers’ strike, which was organized by the Trade Union of Motor Transport Workers.
According to the Finnish publication YLE, the previously announced aid includes three fire engines, an ambulance and equipment for rescue operations.
“The ministry hopes to send the necessary goods to Ukraine within this week, but the exact time of the shipment is still unknown. The Ministry of Internal Affairs told the STT agency that the delays will not be significant. Other aid destined for Ukraine may also be delayed for several days due to strikes.” – the material says.
The publication notes that the strike began on February 15. This comes after the AKT Transport Workers Union rejected a mediation offer to settle a labor dispute in the transport sector. Negotiations on this issue should continue on Wednesday, February 22.
At the same time, the strike itself is indefinite.
War in Ukraine: help from Finland
In mid-February 2023, it became known that Finland was preparing military aid for Ukraine. This will already be the 13th package, but it is not yet known what will be included there.
The previous package was agreed in January. It was reported that it will be the largest and will include heavy weapons.
However, Finland still has not made a decision on the transfer of its Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine, despite receiving a “green light” from Germany. In an interview with journalists, Prime Minister of the country Sanna Marin said that the strategic situation for Finland is “a little different” from other countries due to the presence of a common border with Russia.
