Ukrainian actress Victoria Varley said after the finale of the show “Bachelor 12” that she married the businessman Petro, a native of Russia. She repeatedly spoke about the fact that her husband has been living in the United States for more than 20 years and condemns the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, but fans still poured a lot of dirt on her.
In an interview with Channel 24, Varley said that her husband had lived in the Russian Federation for two years, and the last time he was there was at the age of twelve. Therefore, he does not identify himself with the Russians. In addition, according to her, it helps the Armed Forces to fight against Russian aggression.
“There was hate. Unfortunately, people don’t think. They don’t want to think that I also have Russian roots. I think that most Ukrainians have Russian roots. As of 2001, 17% of Russians living in Ukraine, who were building families, that gave birth to children, that’s why we have a lot of people with Russian blood. My husband has never lived in Russia, he spent maybe two years there in his entire life,” Varley admitted.
She added that she does not react to hate because she understands why people do it. As Varley says, many Ukrainians who cannot go abroad are embittered, so they try to vent all their pain.
“Now people are very embittered because of the war. Especially those who stayed in Ukraine, who have no opportunity to leave. I understand this state of embitterment, when you want to let all your pain out, you need to offend someone, hurt someone. But I don’t react to that , because it is so psychologically worked out that it doesn’t affect me at all,” concluded Victoria.
