According to Roman Kostenko, the key aspect should be maximum concentration of efforts on preserving the lives of military personnel.
In Ukraine, it is necessary to legislate the mechanism of demobilization after a certain period of service. The corresponding initiative was made by the Secretary of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence Roman Kostenko. He spoke about this in an interview with Ukrinform.
According to the people’s deputy, the working group working on the relevant bill proposed an option providing for the possibility of demobilization after 36 months of service, and “these three years could become the basis for potential demobilization.”
“Of course, during this period, military personnel will have the right to vacations, business trips, sick leave. My proposal is this: if within 36 months a military man spent at least six months in the combat zone, which is confirmed by the relevant combat orders, then he will have the right for demobilization after 18 months of service,” Kostenko said.
In his opinion, in this way a person who joins the ranks of the Ukrainian Defense Forces will understand that in general he must serve either 36 months in the rear, or 18 months, subject to staying in the combat zone for six months.
At the same time, the key aspect of the new mobilization policy, according to Kostenko, should be the maximum concentration of efforts on preserving the lives of military personnel.
“Mobilization must be fair. Anyone who can take up arms must do so now or be ready to do so as needed. There must be justice. Now so many citizens serve, and after three years others come to take their place. Gradually “Everyone will have to be changed. If we do this, each person will know the schedule of his service. Alternatively, you can even send summons with a specified draft date, for example in a year. Then the person will clearly understand when he enters military service and prepare for it” ,” the people’s deputy summed up.
Demobilization in Ukraine – latest news
Demobilization during war is impossible. This was stated by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov. At the same time, according to him, the defense department has already developed a solution that will allow the military to get a “break.”
In turn, the commander of the Svoboda battalion as part of the 4th Rapid Reaction Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine, Petr Kuzik, said that demobilization will not happen in Ukraine in the near future. He noted that people need to be replaced, but with trained, professional fighters who have learned to survive in real battles.
