Pletenchuk noted that now there are three threats from the air – enemy missiles, drones and airplanes.
Russian invaders use attack drones to identify Ukrainian air defenses. However, the threat in the airspace is not only drones, but also enemy aircraft and missiles.
Speaking about drone attacks from the Russian Federation in an interview with , representative of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Dmitry Pletenchuk noted that if earlier the enemy launched one or two drones at a target, now the mass level has increased significantly. The occupiers hope that our air defense will be overloaded and some kind of drone will be able to break through and “fly” somewhere.
In addition, Russian aviation also poses problems. For example, recently a Russian Su-24 bomber was shot down near Zmeiny Island. Then he was just mining the “grain corridor”, dropping bottom mines from the air.
According to Pletenchuk, air cover, where there are three threats – missiles, drones and aircraft – is not yet working out.
“Here we rely on our colleagues from the Air Force and on our Western partners, of course, on the provision of aircraft, in particular the F-16, and Patriot systems that are capable of intercepting such carriers and weapons. When will the F-16 appear in the Ukrainian sky, this will be a black day for the Russian army. We can already see how “Daggers” are shot down, because we have the “Patriot” air defense system, how the Ukrainian “Neptunes” work, how we can cover the sea from the shore… And when will F -16, the question will arise whether the MiG-31 with this “Dagger” can even reach the launch line,” he concluded.
F-16 aircraft for Ukraine: latest news
Recently, Newsweek reported that the first F-16 aircraft have allegedly already arrived in Ukraine.
Representative of the Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Yuriy Ignat commented on this material, saying that it was just made up. He emphasized that if these planes were really in Ukraine, he would not have to be on the air of Ukrainian and foreign media all day to “refute the idiotic Russian statements about the destruction of the F-16, as well as the inappropriateness of their presence in Ukraine at this stage “.
