Ukrainian kamikaze drone pilots destroy hundreds of targets.
With Western funding gradually drying up, Ukraine is increasingly placing its hopes on cheap drones that can pinpoint a weak spot on an enemy target. This is stated in the material of The Times.
Small, fast and maneuverable, FPV drones are said to be equipped with cameras that pilots use to aim them precisely at a weak spot on an enemy vehicle, causing damage. Such damage would otherwise have required ten unguided artillery shells.
“The increase in demand has been extreme. I know drone operators who have already destroyed 600 armored vehicles using 25-30 drones per day. Their numbers are amazingly huge – no other type of infantry can do this,” said the FPV drone project coordinator Bogdan Danilov.
According to the authors of the material, in Ukraine they believe that kamikaze drones are a response to the “indecisiveness of the West” in providing military assistance and ammunition. Moreover, with a range of up to 20 km, drones can stop enemy attacks long before they reach the infantry on the front line. Each of them costs several times less than a 155 mm projectile. At the moment, almost all of them are bought in China.
“We buy them in bulk from Chinese factories, as much as possible. Before the war, we sold a maximum of a thousand a month, now they sell 20-30 thousand a month,” says Danilov.
The publication notes that in the future Kyiv plans to produce all components for FPV drones within the country. Thus, according to President Vladimir Zelensky, a million drones will be manufactured in Ukraine this year.

previously reported that on the night of January 5, Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine with Shahed-type attack drones. Subsequently, the Air Force told how many drones were shot down by the sky defenders.
