The main directions of attack were the south and east, Ukrainian air defense shot down 21 enemy drones.
At night, the Russian occupiers attacked Ukraine with dozens of Shaheds and missiles, the Air Force reported.
“On the night of January 7, 2024, the occupiers attacked with 28 attack UAVs of the Shahed-136/131 type from the Primorsko-Akhtarsk region – Russian Federation and three S-300 anti-aircraft guided missiles from the occupied Donetsk region,” the message says.
It is noted that the main directions of attack were the south and east.
At the same time, 21 enemy UAVs were destroyed by forces and means of the Air Force and Defense Forces of Ukraine. Anti-aircraft missile units and mobile fire groups have been involved in repelling the air attack.
It is noted that air defense operated within the Zaporozhye, Nikolaev, Odessa, Dnepropetrovsk, Kirovograd, Vinnytsia and Cherkassy regions.
According to the Southern Defense Forces, the drone attack lasted about 60 hours. The enemy sent UAVs of the “Shahed-131/136” type launched from the temporarily occupied Crimea and the eastern coast of the Azov Sea to the coastal zone of the Nikolaev region and Odessa region, as well as in the direction of the central and western regions of Ukraine.
It is noted that in the south, air defense destroyed 11 kamikaze drones: 5 in Nikolaev, 2 each in Odessa and Dnepropetrovsk, 1 each in Kirovograd and Vinnytsia regions.
“In the Nikolayev region, there was a hit in a recreational area, where a fire occurred at one of the mothballed recreation centers. The fire was promptly extinguished. No people were injured,” the message says.
Occupier attacks – what is known
On the evening of January 6, Russian occupiers attacked the Dnieper with drones. A high-rise building was damaged and several cars were destroyed.
According to the head of the Dnepropetrovsk Regional Municipality Dmitry Lysak, 22 families lived in the house. Emergency responders rescued six people, two of them children. It is known that two people sought medical help. Fortunately, there were no fatalities.
