Kuleba noted that the war continues, and decisions must be made to support Ukraine.
Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said the deadline for approval of assistance from the United States, so that the delay does not affect the situation on the battlefield, is the end of January.
According to an correspondent, Kuleba said this while participating in a panel discussion on changes in the global context in Davos. In particular, the Foreign Minister was asked what the consequences would be if the US Congress does not approve President Joe Biden’s request for additional funding for Ukraine in the amount of about $61 billion.
“From a financial point of view, of course, this is very important because it will allow us to continue to strengthen our military. It will also help our macro-financial stability. But this assistance is also very important politically because it will give us a very clear message that the United States will remain with us.” , – said Kuleba.
The minister pointed out very harmful political consequences if Ukraine is left without help. He added that the US does not question the issue of support for Ukraine, but the main focus of Congress is on discussing internal issues – in particular, the security of the southern border with Mexico.
At the same time, as Kuleba noted, the war continues and decisions must be made to support Ukraine. He said the deadline for approval of the necessary assistance so that the delay does not affect the situation on the battlefield is the end of January.
“It’s the end of January. Our American partners are telling us this. And everyone else from different political spectrums,” Kuleba concluded.
Help to Ukraine from the United States: it’s worth knowing
US President Joe Biden has invited congressional leaders to a meeting at the White House to discuss his request for funding for Ukraine, Israel and the border.
The White House requested additional financial assistance from Congress for Ukraine and Israel back in October 2023, but the request was never approved. Before the New Year’s holiday, Republicans went into recess without a final vote. The cornerstone was the issue of American border security.
