The Russian criminal code has an article providing for severe punishment for starting a war.
During a recent meeting with his subordinates, Russian President Vladimir Putin publicly admitted that Russia attacked Ukraine and is conquering its territories, and punishment for such crimes is provided for by the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation itself. As ASTRA reports, a scientist from the Moscow region wrote a statement against Putin to the Investigative Committee and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and also asks to initiate a criminal case against the president because of his statement about “conquests” in Ukraine.
The resource does not name the applicant for his safety. It is noted that on January 16, the dictator held a meeting with the heads of municipalities of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation, during which Putin raised the issue of “peace negotiations” with Ukraine.
“As for this negotiation process, it is an attempt to encourage us to abandon the gains that we have realized over the past year and a half. This is impossible. Everyone understands that this is impossible,” the Russian leader noted then.
The scientist states that it is the phrase about conquest that carries a significant criminal sentence.
“Putin calls the territories of Crimea, Donetsk, Lugansk, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions of Ukraine conquered,” explains the Russian scientist.
In this regard, he wrote a statement to the law enforcement agencies of the aggressor state and asked to initiate a case against Putin. The scientist argues his claims, referring, in particular, to the Explanatory Dictionary. According to the latter, “conquest” is the seizure of territory; that which is subjugated by armed force; subdued forcibly. At the same time, the scientist cites excerpts from the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
In particular, such concepts as “planning, preparation, unleashing an aggressive war”, “waging an aggressive war” are provided for in Art. 353 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. According to the Russian Criminal Code, such crimes are punishable by imprisonment for a term of 7 to 20 years.
“In connection with the above, I come to the conclusion that official Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin committed a particularly serious crime in planning, preparing, unleashing or waging an aggressive war using the armed forces of the Russian Federation against another unitary state of Ukraine,” the man’s statement said.
He asks the competent authorities of the Russian Federation to initiate a case against Putin under Part 1, Part 2 of Art. 353 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation and report in writing about the results of your appeal.
“The statement was printed in my own hand, I am familiar with Article 306 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Knowingly false denunciation – ),” the media quotes the scientist.
