In particular, the requirements of EU directives banning the sale of leaded gasoline have been restored.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has renewed the requirements for fuel quality not lower than the Euro-5 environmental standard. From now on, it is prohibited to sell fuel of Euro-3 and Euro-4 standards.
“Changes have been made to the Technical Regulations regarding the requirements for motor gasoline, diesel, marine and boiler fuels, in particular, in terms of restoring the validity of fuel quality requirements at a level not lower than Euro-5,” said government representative in the Verkhovna Rada Taras Melnychuk.
EU directives banning the sale of leaded petrol and establishing requirements for fuel used in road vehicles and non-road mobile machinery (including inland watercraft), agricultural and forestry tractors and recreational boats were also reinstated.
The fuel situation in Ukraine
In March 2022, the Cabinet of Ministers temporarily allowed the circulation of fuel of environmental standards Euro-3 and Euro-4. This decision was made to provide additional fuel resources in the country, in particular, for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In addition, there is more counterfeit goods at Ukrainian gas stations. In particular, small oil refineries that did not have sufficient control over the quality of fuel had a hand in the situation. Taking this into account, people’s deputies back in 2023 wanted to create conditions so that all small refineries in Ukraine would not be able to operate.
As for prices, the average price per liter of A-95 gasoline in the country is now 50.96 UAH.
