The minister complained about the delay in making important decisions.
In the war unleashed by Russia against Ukraine, nothing brought Russian President Vladimir Putin more benefit than the concept of “preventing escalation,” Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said in an interview with Foreign Affairs magazine.
In his opinion, Putin “should be grateful” for this concept, because it delayed the adoption of many important decisions, which were nevertheless made later.
“We lost time, we lost territory, we lost lives,” he said.
As Kuleba added, it is “extremely difficult for countries to make a U-turn in one day,” but they still, at least partially, do it when they allow the transfer of weapons to Ukraine: “But was this U-turn complete? Not yet.”
He also expressed the opinion that ending a war of this magnitude requires eliminating the main cause of the war – Putin’s imperialist thinking.
The war is exhausting Russia
Let us recall, as The Washington Post wrote, in 2024, Russian President Vladimir Putin will have to face another dangerous rival: the war itself.
The fighting in Ukraine is likely to increase the strain on the lives of most Russians and put many of them in even greater danger as the war eats into the Kremlin’s reserves of money and men.
