Painstaking work lies ahead to assess the compliance of Ukrainian legislation with EU standards, the president emphasized.
The European Union has officially begun screening Ukrainian legislation. President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky announced this.
“I welcome today’s start of thorough preparations for negotiations on Ukraine’s accession to the EU. The screening process has officially begun in Brussels, which lays the foundation for negotiations,” he wrote on social media.
According to him, this process is the result of agreements reached with the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen in Davos.
“There is painstaking work ahead to assess the compliance of Ukrainian legislation with EU standards, the formation of the Ukrainian delegation and our negotiating position. I count on the maximum mobilization of the government team and the holding of the first intergovernmental conference this spring,” the president added.
